Rwanda Embassy in Ethiopia is also a Permanent Mission to UNECA. UNECA is a key institution of the multilateral architecture of Africa. It operates both as a think tank for economic policy formulation and as well the regional arm of the United Nations. Its work focuses on producing statistics and reports in socio-economic and political areas, economic and corporate governance and development management of its member states.

Rwanda hosts the sub-regional UNECA office for Eastern Africa.

The key focus of the Commission’s work in the sub-region and in Rwanda is to promote the regional integration and strengthen the capacity of its member States, Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and Intergovernmental Organisations (IGOs) in order to speed up the economic and social development in the sub-region.
